About University

Welcome to Capilano University! By coming to Capilano, you will be joining a community of 7,000 students, including close to 1000 international students from 55 countries around the world. Capilano is a public university in beautiful British Columbia, and is located on Vancouver’s north shore, just 20 minutes from downtown.

Capilano is a teaching institution, not a research institution. This means our focus is on you, or more specifically, on your learning. Graduates of our certificate, diploma, degree and post graduate degree programs are competitive in the job market because our programs emphasize real-world relevance. Graduates from Capilano’s many Business, Early Childhood, Arts/Sciences, Engineering Transfer, Communications, Legal, Allied Health, Global and Community Studies, Tourism, and Fine and Applied Arts programs are the real proof of Capilano’s quality. Capilano is also recognized by the BC Education Quality Assurance Program and we are the first Canadian university to be accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).

As a student at Capilano University, you can become involved in clubs and associations, play or cheer for our sports teams, enjoy musicians or watch theatre and dance right here on campus. Capilano students are “change makers” and are encouraged to be social entrepreneurs who make social and environmental impacts in today’s world. In your free time, Vancouver offers you a wonderful environment to enjoy international foods, arts and entertainment.
